So I’ve finished. I’ve completed my BA Hons Degree, in a global pandemic. As many of you might know I have been studying a degree in Dance Performance at Addict Dance Academy in Leicester for the past 3 years, and it has now come to an end, but because of the pandemic and restrictions, it doesn’t feel real. We have finished filming our graduation virtual show that airs in July but aside from that, no ball dresses, no cap & gown, no holding the scroll and getting our photo taken. YET. Our dance school has been very fortunate to be able to keep going in these uncertain times and the amount of training I’ve managed to get in my final year despite being in a pandemic, has been impressive. It’s now nearing the date of me moving out of my Leicester flat and leaving my student life behind, and I can’t help but feel emotional and reflective of both the past 3 years at Addict and also the past 4 years I’ve lived in Leicester.Continue reading “It doesn’t feel real…”
Are you about to start your first year at university? Well not to worry. I have been in your position and I can tell you all about what to expect. I remember all sorts of things running through my head when I was about to move into student halls. Student Halls were a whole different world compared to living at home. The university course itself was completely new to me and I didn’t know anybody when I got there.Continue reading “Advice For 1st Year University Students”
As most students do, during summer they start moving home because accommodations don’t have the option to stay over summer. And lets be real, we do miss home a lot more than some of us admit (yes, me included!). I’ve moved back home now, for just under 3 months which personally makes me so happy! Getting to finally spend time with family and friends with no sort of time restraint.Continue reading “Moving Back Home for 3 Months?!”
So here’s to another month! Not a giant deal to update you on, but the end of this month was a highlight!
At the beginning of October after just a month of training at Addict, I had my first audition! As much as I was not expecting to get through the first round never mind get the job, I was impressed I’d even pushed myself to turn up, learn the routine and perform it. It gave me such an insight into the commercial industry auditions and how cut throat it can be.
So for those of you that read my last “Life update post” do not worry, this one is not as long, haha. September brought a lot of stress, but also a lot of new and fresh starts, my ‘Life Update’ posts will hopefully be once a month, however if the month hasn’t been the busiest or I feel there’s not a lot to document I might just add it in to the next month’s (double it up).
Being at university has been incredible and I have loved every second of it so far but occasionally I do feel a bit home sick (as expected) so during my “Reading/Enhancement” week I came home for a few days to spend time with my family and friends from up north. Continue reading “Coming Home…”
Freshers. Yes, University Freshers week is what I am talking about, now if I didn’t survive I wouldn’t be writing this now would I? It wasn’t entirely what I was expecting (it was better!) however I loved every minute of it and can’t wait to read back this post in weeks, months, years to come and remember the great memories made in these first two weeks of being at University. Continue reading “Did I survive?”
