So the day has finally come, after three years at college (2 of which being 1st year) and now two long gruelling years of being a 1st year Uni student and Dance school student, I can finally say my 2nd year has arrived! I wrote a post at the beginning of summer called ‘University wasn’t for me..So I chose dance school!‘ and that kind of explains my University Vs Dance School drama. Having just moved in to my new flat in Leicester ready to take on my 2nd year at Dance school, I’m going to write about my numerous times of being a first year student.
After completing a year at ‘Addict Dance Academy’, I am now set on knowing where I want to be in my training. And it’s here. At Addict! Not university.
I started university in September 2017 at De Montfort University, studying a BA Hons in Dance. Now having received an unconditional offer I was super excited to start training, expecting it to be quite full on and physically intense. Now my previous sentence describes that of full time dance school and not university. Continue reading “How I went from University to Dance School!”
So lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my future, in terms of dance and my performing career. After having years, of being so certain in what I want to do in my life, it’s come to a point, where that is no longer the case.
I don’t know what I want…
So here’s to another month! Not a giant deal to update you on, but the end of this month was a highlight!
At the beginning of October after just a month of training at Addict, I had my first audition! As much as I was not expecting to get through the first round never mind get the job, I was impressed I’d even pushed myself to turn up, learn the routine and perform it. It gave me such an insight into the commercial industry auditions and how cut throat it can be.
So for those of you that read my last “Life update post” do not worry, this one is not as long, haha. September brought a lot of stress, but also a lot of new and fresh starts, my ‘Life Update’ posts will hopefully be once a month, however if the month hasn’t been the busiest or I feel there’s not a lot to document I might just add it in to the next month’s (double it up).
So I asked on twitter a few weeks back what I should do with my blog as I feel like I will not be able to maintain posting regularly due to going to dance school, which I described as dancing the same amount of hours as a full time job, therefore my spare time would consist of working a part time job to pay for…well everything and life. And also sleeping, because you know – dancing everyday, all day is going to be shattering.
I decided to create a series I’ll trial for a few months where at the end of each month I’ll do a “Life Update” style blog, explain what I’ve been up to, how I’ve been feeling, what I plan to do next month and just little bits like that. So this is the first. I know ‘summer’ isn’t a month but I thought I’d start it off by giving you and overall view of what I got up to in my months off during summer. Hi there, as many of you know, yes, I have a blog, and yes, I know I’ve not been active recently on here with posting or just overall active on my social media for this blog. Since going to Amsterdam back in May I’ve not touched my WordPress or even thought about coming on here to write a post and to be honest with you, I’ve no idea why I haven’t wrote any posts or published anything. I have been incredibly busy which would definitely play a huge part in it, I’ve not spent more than 10 days in one place, I’ve been back and forth and all over since finishing my first year at uni.
