Summer Bucket List…

SUMMER’S HERE!!! Finally, after all those months of waiting for a bit of sunshine, it’s here! So now what? Well each year (for the last 3 years now) I try to write a “bucket list” of things I want to do in summer that year, and most years they’ll consist of the same sorts of activities to do and places to visit. So without further ado…

  • Long Walk

Either throughout the day when the sun is shining, or in the evening as the sun is setting, going for a long (ish) country road walk is so relaxing and refreshing when the weather is nice, gives me space to think whilst being surrounded by nature and feeling free.

  • Picnic

A nice little picnic with a picnic blanket, in a field, at a bench or even in your back garden. Again, just the feeling of being outside in the weather feels so refreshing and peaceful. Sandwiches, fruit, fresh drinks and sun – nothing sounds better. This could tie in to the idea of a Garden Party, later on in this post…

  • Beach Day

My closest beach to visit for the day would probably be Scarborough, so spending a full day here, playing on the beach, having long walks up and down the seafront, eating ice-cream, having fish and chips and going on some of the rides. A tiring day, but a fun one at that!

  • BBQ

I love a good BBQ, in the back garden with all the furniture out and blankets down, sun shining, burgers and sausages on the BBQ, range of sauces, bread buns and salads, and plenty of drinks to go round, and let’s not forget that music playing.

  • Bike Ride

Now, I always say I want to go on a cute bike ride down the country roads, with a picnic ready and sun shining, and once I get going I regret it straight away (as my legs start to ache and I become out of breath) and wish I took the lazy way of driving but then when I look back I can only ever remember enjoying it? How does that work? I still wanna go now!

  • Strawberry Picking

I am lucky enough to live quite close to a farm that provides PYO (Pick Your Own) Strawberry fields, now it’s not the longest activity (time wise), you do sort of just walk in, pick up a basket and start picking, when you’re done you get your basket weighed, pay and leave. This might not sound interesting to some, but it’s so cute to do on a very sunny day, the smell of a strawberry field makes my mouth water and my excitement levels shoot up sky high, it’s such a fun, chilled out activity for anyone to take part in, and at the end you get a stash of freshly picked (by you) strawberries.

  • Swimming

I am unsure whether I want to go swimming at a pool or when we go to the beach (in the sea) but either way I  know I want to go swimming at some point this summer because I just find it so much fun and such an easy thing to do (especially if you don’t live far from a pool). I would also love to go on any water slides at a swimming pool, or we might have to go to a theme park for that.

  • Water Fight

Need water guns fast? Here you’ll find a pack of water shooters, use an Amazon Prime 30-day Free trial to get them Tomorrow! Invite your friends round, get the swimming pool out and have a water fight. This will be a extremely fun, but wet day in the garden. You could even fill up a load of water balloons and use those too, the aim to get the opposite team as wet as possible!

  • Garden Party

This could probably just tie in with the BBQ or a Picnic but get some music playing, drinks flowing and food ready, a garden party can be as chilled or as wild as you make it, it could even include proper party games like Twister or maybe get the water balloons in involved again and play ‘hot potato’ with them. Either way, a garden party is such a fun way to enjoy the sun and summer with your friends and family (without having to actually leave your house).

  • Movie Night

Get your Amazon Video 30-day free trial here! Great for a rainy day! There are so many great original Amazon films and series as well as some classic movie night binges.
