Small Business Shout-Out #7
This shout-out is to a business that I have been a customer of over the past year, 6 Degrees Coffee House have provided me with my hot drink of choice on my daily walk over this past year and I have nothing but positivity to say about them. Highly recommend if you’re in the Leicester (/Leicestershire) area to check them out!
- Introduce yourself and your business.
6 Degrees is a social enterprise of the Open Hands charity here in Leicester. We started in March 2016 as a way of raising funds and promoting the work of Open Hands. Also providing a place to support and train people in the hospitality industry. And most importantly we want to be a top quality coffee house in our welcome, service and produce. I (Simon) have been manager since March 2020, so it’s been a wild ride starting in this role! I have a great passion for coffee and food, and love the local community space that coffee shops are. Bringing people together!
- What do you sell and at what price point?
We have a selection of breakfast and lunch options available all day including avocado smash, toasted sandwiches, baked sweet potatoes and salad. We aim to be priced competitively, ensuring the price reflects the quality and provides a good profit for our charity.
- What’s your biggest achievement so far?
In the nearly 5 years since we set up we’ve been blown away with the support from people living and working locally. We have loved seeing our regulars get chatting with one another and build a community within our welcoming environment. In the past year we’ve been so thankful for the continued commitment of these regulars as well as the new faces we see every day.
- What’s your aim/goal with your business?
We exist to raise funds for Open Hands! The charity provides essential services to those most in need in our city through food parcels, meals, furniture and clothing, as well as skills courses such as English language and self-esteem building. Plus through our network of volunteers we have often provided advocacy services and general friendship. We want every person in any situation to know they are loved and valued more than they could ever know by the God who created them.
- How can people find you?
Our coffee shop is located on 108 London Road, just opposite university road.
Thank you for reading as always,
