So over the past six months I have been learning and researching so much on skincare and skin health as I haven’t been one of the ‘lucky‘ ones with bright clear skin every day. I created a skincare routine that I try and follow as many days as I can to try keep on top of improving my skin. I made sure that I identified my main problems first before deciding anything;Oily/Combination skin, redness and then spots in certain areas, I also made sure I knew the face mapping of where spots are on your face and why they’ve appeared; stress, eating, problems elsewhere in my body.
Below is a list (in order) of the products I use in my routine…
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for Combination/Sensitive Skin.
If I’m wearing a face full of makeup or at least have eye make-up on I’ll most always use this, I featured this in my Empties: Restock or Regret? post a while back. I have now gone off wipes after learning about how they actually work on your skin, I wrote about this in my previous skincare post: Looking after your skin?
Clinique “Take the day off” Make-up Remover
This is the makeup remover I tend to use if I have earlier worn makeup or am only wearing a small amount as I feel this is much more of an effort to use and isn’t always my first grab from my drawer, although good at it’s job.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Hot Cloth Cleanser
This has been a fairly new discovery for me, although having known about this product for ages now I have never had the chance to test it. I had been gifted a small tester and absolutely loved it and so my mum had some in her bathroom and let me continue using it whilst I waited for my order of it to arrive.
(NOTE: I found 2 x 200ml tubes of this for £17.95 (meaning under £9 a tube) on eBay, compared to the usual £26 for the one 200ml at Boots)
Elemis Nourishing Omega-rich Cleansing Oil
I use this sometimes as well as the Liz Earle Cleanser just to double cleanse (a tip from Caroline Hirons!) after a long day of wearing a full face of makeup. Again, this isn’t something I reach for 1) a lot and 2) firstly, however it does it’s job and it does it well.
Elemis Balancing Lavender Toner
This is hands down my favourite toner I’ve used and high up there on my list of all time favourite products! I am not usually a fan of scented face products, however this one is AMAZING and leaves my skin feeling insanely clean and fresh, it also lasts forrrrever! Which is good news for my bank!
Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser
I swear by this stuff! I always used to struggle with finding a right moisturiser for my skin type (oily/combination) because most often, I would find that half way through the day my face would become very shiny/oily and felt damp 🙁 However, after finding this I don’t think I’ll ever have to try another moisturiser again.
Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser
This was my moisturiser before I found the oil-balancing one, however I do occasionally still use it if my skin is going through a dry patch and also I love to use this on my body after a shower, because it is INCREDIBLY hydrating!
~ Now, these next two products I just wanted to mention and are only in my routine very rarely however when I do use them it’s mainly because my skin is being very temperamental and dry, these products seem to sort it out. ~
Elemis Hydra-nourish night cream
Elemis Hydra-balance day cream
I hope you’ve liked reading about my skincare routine, I am still learning and would appreciate some guidance. Thank you for reading! What’s you favourite product in your skincare routine? And do you have a routine?
